Music has traditionally occupied a central place in the life and worship of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish.
By joining our hearts with the beauty of sound, we give voice to our faith through the wonderful art of music! Music soothes, excites, challenges and unites us in ways in which words alone cannot. Through our hymns and acclamations music enables us to touch the very mysteries of God as we unite together in prayer.
The principal choir of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish is the assembly of parishioners who gather on Sundays to celebrate the Eucharistic liturgy. Led by priests and lectors who chant their rightful music and supported by cantors, choirs and instrumentalists, this "great choir" –often over 500 strong voices, thundering its "Thanks be to Gods," "Alleluias," and "Amens!"
At Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, music for worship spans the centuries from Medieval chant and Renaissance polyphony through the contemporary repertory of the Twenty-First Century.
We're always interested in helping new folk become a part of the Music Ministries program!
The Saint Elizabeth of Hungary ADULT Choir is composed of 25-35 persons who lead an exciting and varied repertoire of motets, anthems, masses, hymns and chants at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday liturgy in Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church and for other principal liturgies of the church.
The Chanel Choir season is from September through the great feast of Pentecost, which usually falls in early June. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Room 109 of Pius X Hall. Some additional rehearsals may be required to prepare special liturgies and programs. The Choir begins warm-ups at 10:00 a.m. for Sunday Masses. Membership is open to those of high school age and older who enjoy singing the choral literature of the church from past to present.

A great way for our younger members to feel a part of their church community is to involve them in the music ministry. For those youngsters who love to sing or play a musical instrument, our children's choir program provides a wonderful outlet for this gift and a way to serve the community through ministry. This fun, exciting and edifying musical activity strengthens the faith experience of our children and introduces them to life-changing and formative experiences.
At Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, we have a Children’s Choir made up of both students from the St Elizabeth grade school and those children of the parish who attend other schools in the area. Requirements for membership include a love of music and singing, good vocal and pitch-matching skills, availability to sing liturgies and excellent behavior. Participants are expected to commit to the full year of singing.

In times of loss, members of the greater community turn to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Parish to conduct funeral arrangements and service for the loved ones. Since music is both comforting and inspiring at these times, our music ministries offers the services of parish musicians and singers.
Funerals normally take place during the work week at our 10:00 a.m. liturgy. This is a good opportunity for those who are able to participate in one of the Corporal Works of Mercy by singing with those assembled and bringing comfort to the bereaved. Those who attend our funerals Masses find that ministering in this special way is very fulfilling for a variety of reasons.
There are no regularly scheduled rehearsals for the Resurrection Choir nor are there any requirements for attendance at funerals—you sing as your schedule allows.
If you are interested in helping to support and minister to our bereaved families with your gift of song, please call Christopher McCloskey at 412-882-8436 to be placed on the notification list for funerals.
